China approves XAC’s purchase of Austrian composite makerPublished: 18 Nov 2009 23:02:01 PSTThe National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Wednesday approved, Xian Aircraft Industry Company Limited (XAC)’s acquisition of Fischer Advanced Composite Components AG (FACC), Boeing’s largest component maker in Austria.XAC, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), signed an acquisition agreement with FACC on October 3 to purchase 91.25 percent of the latter, but at the time had not received regulatory approval, according to a notice on website of the Ministry of Commerce on October 6.The price for the deal was also not disclosed, but an unnamed source from XAC said on October 9 that the price will be about 100 million euros.Established in 1989, FACC is one of the main component suppliers for Boeing and Airbus, and the largest component maker in Austria. From the fiscal year 2008 to 2009, the total earnings of the company was 277 million euros, while the net profit posted a loss of 19.60 million euros.XAC is one of the important component suppliers for the C919 airplane project, China’s first domestically-produced jumbo jets.
