Taiwan’s exports up 19.4% bln in NovPublished: 07 Dec 2009 20:16:31 PSTMore From ChinaKnowledge.comChina Economy DataChina Business GuideChina DemographicChina Industrial ParksChina Financial MarketDec. 8, 2009 (China Knowledge) – The value of exports from Taiwan totaled US$20.02 billion last month, up 19.4% from US$16.78 billion in the same period of last year, due to a surge in shipments to mainland China and stronger demand from the U.S., according to statistics released by the island’s Ministry of Finance yesterday.It is the first time the island has seen growth in exports since August 2008. In November, Taiwan’s imports rose 17.90% from a year earlier to US$17.9 billion. In October, the island’s imports fell 6.7% year on year to US$16.58 billion.Trade surplus in November amounted to US$2.11 billion, compared with US$3.23 billion in October, the ministry said. Taiwan’s exports to mainland China and Hong Kong surged 47.8% from a year earlier to US$8.32 billion last month.
